If you grind your own coffee at home, the quality of the whole bean is everything. Commercial ‘Arabica’ beans are frequently blended with lower-grade Robusta to cut costs, or sourced from multiple origins that dilute the distinct terroir of single-origin coffee. Garmania’s Grade AA Arabica roasted coffee beans are 100% single-origin from high-altitude Wayanad farms — no blending, no Robusta, no compromise.
What Grade AA Means
Coffee bean grading is based on size, density, and defect count. Grade AA (also called ‘Bold’ or ‘Plantation A’) represents the largest, densest beans in the harvest — the ones that developed the longest on the plant, absorbing the most nutrients and developing the most complex flavour compounds. Smaller beans roast less evenly and carry less aromatic oil.
The Wayanad Advantage
- Elevation: 1,000–1,400m above sea level — slow growth at altitude develops natural sweetness
- Climate: consistent monsoon rainfall and cool nights create ideal growing conditions
- Soil: rich, laterite-clay soil of the Western Ghats imparts earthy mineral complexity
- Flavour profile: chocolate, mild fruit, gentle nuttiness with a clean finish
Medium Roast — The Sweet Spot
Our beans are medium-roasted to preserve the origin character — the bright acidity and fruity notes of Arabica are retained without the bitterness of a dark roast. They work excellently as espresso, South Indian filter kaapi, AeroPress, French press, and pour-over.
Freshness Promise
- Roasted in small batches, not large commercial runs
- Packed only after your order — never stored pre-packed
- Dispatched within 32 hours of order confirmation

FAQs
What does Grade AA mean?
Grade AA refers to the largest, densest coffee beans in the harvest — they roast more evenly and carry more aromatic oils than smaller-grade beans. It is the top commercial grade for Indian plantation coffee.
Are these beans 100% Arabica?
Yes. No Robusta blending. Robusta is a different species — higher caffeine but harsher, more bitter flavour. Our beans are 100% Arabica for the smooth, complex cup the variety is known for.
Can I use these for South Indian filter coffee?
Yes. These beans work excellently as filter coffee. The medium roast and dense Grade AA beans produce a rich, full-bodied decoction. Grind medium-fine for a filter coffee machine, or coarser for a French press.
Do the beans come pre-ground?
No. These are whole roasted beans. We recommend grinding fresh before each brew for the best aroma. If you need ground coffee, our Arabica Coffee Powder is freshly ground on order.
